An eventful day...

Wow....we had an eventful day yesterday (Saturday)!! We started the morning with breakfast and worship in Irene's home again. Amanda is feeling much better, so she busted in to the mangos from the tree outside.

Jeanne and Theresa got a motorcycle ride from Edwin!

All of us girls walked in to town with Reema to get our sarees taylored. We get to pick them up on Wednesday!

This little mule is one of the many that just roam the streets here in Shimoga. Kaitlynn is totally in love with them all and is making plans to bring one home in her suitcase ;)

Kait, Jer, and Reema

The girls getting a cooking lesson from Irene

These are the watchdogs for Happy Home. Bingo is on the left, and Bruce on the right. They are pretty intimidating!

Ben and Jeremy helping to wash clothes. Hopefully the washers and dryers will arrive soon, and this will be unnecessary :)

Kaitlynn, Tiff, Kieren, and Sindu

Ok....about midday, we all heard Danielle shouting that there was an elephant coming up the road. What?!?! We all ran to the gate and sure enough, there it was. The same one from the day before, it turns out. How amazing is our God ? That He would bless us in such a way as to bring us an elephant? The entrance to Happy Home is not on a main road....and we never did find out why the elephant's owner/rider was cruising up our street right at that time....but we all felt so blessed by it. How amazing is it that our God delights in delighting His children?

Hmm....so, Roshan asked the handler to bring the elephant into the compound and give us rides (!!!). He charged us only 50 rupees a ride (that's about $1.25), which Roshan said was exhorbitant. Ha ha ha...crazy, isn't it? Needless to say, we all took a ride and countless pictures. Check em out!

After we had our elephant adventure, we gathered up the duffle bags we had brought, found the toys and the candy, and distributed them to the kids. It was so fun!! The looks on these kids faces was absolutely priceless. I handed a second piece of chocolate to a little girl, and she shook her head "no", held up her hand to show me that she had already gotten a piece, and then pointed at the girl next to her...indicating that I should give it to her instead. Wow. The selflessness that I saw was so beautiful. I feel like I learn so much from these kids...about what it means to love, what it means to be joyful in all circumstances, and what it means to bask in the love of our Lord.

Here are the pics!

These 4 kids were too sick to participate in the toy distibution in the big room, so we brought them some stuffed animals. They loved it :)

More cuteness....

This guy loved my camera, and so he took his little toy car and was pretending to take pictures of everyone. He was SO cute!!

Well everyone, as you can see, we had a very full day :) Thank you again for all your prayers, and your comments! Your support has been so complete, so encouraging, and such a blessing.

Oh, I almost forgot! The property deal went through!!! Hopefully the paperwork will be drawn up this week, Roshan will make the deposit, and it will be finalized over the next few weeks. Your prayers for this matter were felt, and they were effective :)

Praise be to God.

Please keep everyone's health in your prayers, as well as protection from the spiritual warfare that is going on around us. It is much needed!

Well....more to come for sure, but for now just know that we all love and miss you guys at home, and can't wait to be telling you more stories in person.

Thanks for all the updates. What a blessing it is to walk day by day with you in word and picture. The girls enjoyed seeing all the pictures of the kids (and Tiffanie milking the cow!).

How wonderful it is to open up the word each morning and then get an update on what we can pray for. You are in our thoughts and prayers often through out the day.

We love all the pictures!! The Lord is so good to bring an elephant back for you to ride, and the good news about the property...we rejoice with you all!We are especially praying for the precious children who were too ill to participate with the others. We could see what a difference those stuffed animals made to them, and the difference you are making in the lives of all those there!! Praise God and be encouraged, for He will certainly meet your every need. Much love to you all.

Another cool blog post. Thanks Rebekah for keeping this up. It is VERY menaingful and comforting for us to see daily what is happening with you all over there. Praying that this has been a good day for you and your ministry. We have been praying for you (both Kathy and I, and several folks from our church family.) Glad to hear that Ben, AC and Jer are doing better. God is good! It's cool also to see the comments from all of your friends and family at SR. You must REALLY be feeling their prayers and support.

The pictures of the kids are magnificent! They reallly help us get a feel of the love you have for them all. I love the elephant pix!

Just want you to know we will continue to pray for you and the precious kids at Happy Home. I'm already planning (scheming maybe) on how to get in on the next trip there. I haven't been to India for a few years, but you are making me fall in love with the country and people there all over again!

Continue to be open to God's leading and the opportunities for ministry He opens up for you there. He is using you all in ways far beyond what you can see. We love and miss you. Ben, keep taking care of my kiddo. Thanks by the way for the great e-mail. I spent most of the morning crying over it. You of all people should understand that! I'm really proud of you dude!

Love,
Larry & Kathy

Wow, this blog made me cry. What a wonderful day. How fun to get fitted for a sari! And the Lord brought you all your very own elephant!! All amazing, but nothing beats those smiles on the kids faces, those are truly priceless. Lots of love to you all! See you in a couple weeks. :)

Good job with the updates...everyone loves reading this site. I just Rachel these pictures....she seemed especially drawn to the pics of Allison, Kaitlynn and Jeanne. She say she will pray and I know she will! On the flip side she says she would NOT like to ride an elephant!!! Nice to see that Jeremy can ride something where his feet won't drag on the ground! ;-) Also good to see the men doing the laundry...you men will make your mothers proud!

We will pray that God will continue to grow through this experience and that HE will use in lives of these kids and in the lives of the people of India.

Great verse that I've been focusing on lately that I will pass along...Psalm 16:8-9

Hey Guys
I just wanted to say we showed your blogs to the kids today.. They were soooo excited to see all of the pictures of you. They have been keeping you in their prayers over the last week. I hope you enjoy their comments.

I personally enjoy waking up every morning to a new blog. It is wonderful to see God change your lives as well as all of the people you are coming in contact with. The elephant looked like a lot of fun!!! Keep up the great work and I will keep you all in my prayers.

In Him,
Dan

Well, what wonderful photos and great writing! Thank you for sharing. It's really great to see what Happy Home is like and who the kids are. The photos of the medicine shelf, the beds and the cothes washing area allowed us to see the needs. Thank you Lord for the washer and dryer. Washing Clothes is hard work! It's great to see the joy the Lord has allowed you to bring the kids. And, it's wonderful to read in your writing the joy the kids are giving back! It's clear the right people are on this mission. Did you ever hear from Kumar? We will be praying for each of you, Reema and Roshar and the kids. Take care. You are blessing God. [James 1:12]
